The meridian system, also known as channel network, is a concept in traditional Chinese Medicine about a path through which the life-energy known as "qi" flows

Picture a road map: a profusion of points woven into a web by lines of travel. Now imagine this system 3-D in your body: a vast network of invisible energy pathways connecting to each other and to every atom, cell, tendon, bone, organ, each centimeter of skin—everything in your body! They link the upper portion with the lower and the surface with the interior, so that nothing is truly separate.

There are 12 main meridians in the body, and each tooth is related to an acupuncture meridian that in turn is related to various organs, tissues and glands in the body on this particular meridian. Thus, disruptions to the flow of energy through the mouth may affect remote regions of the body and disruptions elsewhere may manifest in the mouth. These relationships are a result of the link between the Acupuncture Meridians and the Teeth.

According to the meridian system, poor tooth health might equate to poor organ health and blockages of energy flow. Blocked meridian flow creates reduced energetic nourishment to that organ, this will result in a physical symptom.
