Best food to eat when they start losing their baby teeth:
Eat apples or other crunchy foods. Encourage your child to eat foods that will help loosen the tooth or even cause it to come out. “Bite and pull” foods like chewy breads and pizza crusts also can help dislodge loose teeth. Most kids will try to avoid chewing on a loose tooth due to discomfort, so encourage them to speed up the process.
Also, it is very important at this age to maintain teeth friendly diet. As new teeth appear in the mouth enamel is not fully mature and needs at least two years to become stronger and more resistant for tooth decay.

Taking your kids to the dentist and start school year right with a dental cleaning and exam.
Lunch box treats
Healthy lunches and snacks are important for active children. It is important to offer healthy lunch box choices. Tips include fresh fruit, crunchy vegetables and a combination of protein, dairy and carbohydrate foods.
Teeth friendly foods to put in a lunch box
- Fresh fruit, avoid dried fruits as they have a lot of sugars.
- Crunchy vegetables
- A meat or protein food such as slices of lean meat, hardboiled egg, peanut butter or nut paste without sugar.
- Dairy food such as a cheese stick or slice, grated cheese, milk or plain yoghurt.
- Whole grain bread, plain crackers, bagels.
Dentists recommend that only one snack per day should be fruit. So, if your child has eaten fruit in the morning as a snack it is best not to give it again in the afternoon. Fruit is OK after a meal as it does not have the same effect on your child’s teeth as it would on an empty stomach.
It is best to brush your teeth at least twice a day, in the morning and evening. It is advisable to brush your teeth just as you woke up and before bed time and use mouthwash after breakfast.
You should wait at least 30 minutes after eating to brush the teeth, otherwise the acid can damage the tooth surface. Brushing before bed is important, as otherwise the food can sit against the surface of the teeth and cause them to decay overnight.
